My portrait studio in Raleigh NC was recognized by Alignable in October of this year and I wanted to share with my fans on my site. In October I opened my email to find this. Raleigh’s Best Small Business Storyteller for 2019 is Michelle Prince. Thank you so much Alignable staff for choosing my story. I was actually surprised and impressed when I heard you reviewed thousands of stories and then chose mine. As you might imagine all social media coverage of a small business is valuable and I am grateful.

This is how it happened. Earlier in the year I came across the entry form for Alignable’s wow worthy small business story search contest. Coincidentally, I had just finished a rough draft of a story about trying to rebuild my business after some pretty difficult trials. Not that we don’t all have difficult trials, this one is just mine. My story was not written with the intention of having it published, but rather something to share with friends and family. My mom loved it and suggested that I edit it for grammatical errors etc… She is an amazing writer.
As it happens, my edit never happened and I am OK with that because I wrote from the heart. On the day I entered the story about my portrait studio in Raleigh NC, I just copy and pasted it into the entry form. After that I did not think about it again. A couple of months later, in October of 2019 I received the notification. As mentioned, I was grateful and surprised. I guess it’s good to surprise yourself every once in a while.
