As I mentioned in the earlier posts, I try to keep the information for my clients updated. This maybe be helpful to you so that you can see what we are doing here at my Raleigh portrait studio. Additionally, this is updated and more relevant information about getting children recognized in the fashion industry.
Because this is a follow up article I encourage you start from the beginning. Therefore, if you have not read the earlier posts you may want to go back and read through them first. If you go that route, this article will then be more easy to follow. Some of the important information about getting a child into modeling in Raleigh will be in the other articles. To avoid a lot of repeated information, I will also have the guide to getting your child ready for a portrait session linked here. However, more detail about this is explained in the earlier post.
Additionally, I have the links that parents use to post our images in the earlier article titled Modeling portfolio lights, camera action in Raleigh. You may follow that link and begin your information journey. To summarize, I am building modeling portfolios for children in the Raleigh, Cary, Holly Springs, Garner, Clayton, Apex and surrounding triangle areas. Are you interested? These articles guide parents through a process that others are following successfully. I write the articles because I am a photographer and not a talent agent. My photos get kids noticed, which is a critical step in the process.
My goal is to get dynamic images of your child. However, it’s important for all mom’s and dad’s to know that It is the parents responsibility to market their child. My articles are a helpful guide for you. I hope you enjoy the read.
Super excited that this week which is 7/26/2019 Gracie made front cover of Bon Bon Magazine. Way to go Gracie. I love front covers. Click Bon Ton Magazine to see the feature.
Earlier in the week Ms. Mia made another cover with her image below. Click here on Young Model Magazine to see. Mia came in for birthday portraits and I styled her and asked mom if I could post one of the images. She wasn’t building a modeling portfolio at my Raleigh studio. Her mom is still super excited about her many magazine publications. Mia is pretty excited too.
Yet another little girl made a cover this week. Wow, what a great week for magazine publications for my Raleigh studio. Her name is Harper and she is a doll. Harper did not come into my Raleigh studio to build a modeling portfolio. She came in for a Magical Mini session with Lola the unicorn. Those types of images can be found in my HORSE MAGIC gallery. Well the magazine loved her images so much that she got the cover a four page layout. I got my badge and my studios is recognized again. Check it out at Designer Child Magazine. The winning cover image is below.
Many of you all follow Izzi. Her adventure into the fashion industry and world of child modeling is a good read. Our success in getting her recognized is what prompted me to start building modeling portfolios in Raleigh. You can read Modeling Portfolios in Raleigh, Izzi’s story if you have not already. Her mother and I are excited to officially announce that she was signed by a modeling agency yesterday. She and Chloe are now both signed with Marilyn’s Agency.
This is so exciting. As you might imagine she has had other agencies offering to sign her. One of those agencies was in New York. That is also super exciting but because of her age mom has decided that getting experience with a local agency is where they would like to start. Way to go Izzi. They can’t wait to begin booking jobs with Marilyn’s.
Chloe is another little girl that you have been reading about. Similarly you can see why she got signed. Look at that hair. I have never seen such a young child with so much gorgeous hair. She is also incredibly sweet and easy to photograph. She was super excited about our last portfolio building session here in Raleigh.
More updates for interested parents
Today is 8/24/2019 and I had to add some exciting news about Paige and Gracie. As you may have read earlier, Paige’s mom and I posted lots of her images that she took at my studio in Model magazine contests. These model magazines are the ones I have posted links for parents to use. She won features in many magazines and caught the eye of a designer. She will be walking fashion week in Charlotte on Aug, 31 and fashion week in New York on September 7th.
Also, Models source magazine invited her to a Disney for a photo shoot. I bet that was fun. I am so excited for her. Her mom said she is having a blast. Way to go Paige. I am so happy to have been part of the process that is leading to so many smiles. This is Paige.
I had a second portfolio building session with Gracie a couple of weeks ago. Her mom ordered two dresses by the designer Wanda Beauchamp. We picked one dress that we knew would be amazing in the studio and another for outside. Her mom just got her images from me about 4 days ago. She won a feature in Brand Model Magazine. Additionally she landed a back cover to It Girl Magazine, all within a day of posting. Yesterday she actually made two front covers, one on Youthful Talent Model Magazine and the other Designer Child Magazine. I have to say I am loving the hashtag #michellestudios. Thanks mom’s for bringing the girls in for portfolio building sessions.
New adventure in photography for Michelle Studios: High speed syn off camera flash photography outside.
This week has been fun and great for me and for Gracie. My newest adventure in photography is high speed sync off camera flash outside. It will be a great addition to senior portrait sessions. I love the look in a swimming pool because of the sparkly highlights reflected off the water. The image below is one I got of Gracie and her mom and I LOVE it. Generally I would not photograph a teenager in a suit but I am ok with in the pool. What an amazing image. I think we should hashtag # Gracie as #amazinggracie. She really does photograph so well. With the above image, got a casting call for Cosmopolitan Top Model runway competition. Wow. wow, wow. It’s December 6-8th in New York City. There she will meet some huge designers and photographers. They are also doing prizes which sounds fun to ME.
New kid on the block: Samuel
Recently I began a portfolio for an 8 year old boy named Samuel. Samuel has been asking his parents to get him into modeling for a long time. When I asked him why he wanted to model he said “because the kids in the magazines look cool and that is what I want.” I asked what about the children looks cool to him and he replied “the clothes.” “So Samuel I replied, you like fashion!” Samuel rocked his photo shoot. We practices some runway walking while he was here. Fortunately, his mom grabbed some video. You can see his video on my Michelle Studios Facebook page. It’s worth stopping in to watch. Since I know fashion and runway are his interests and when I heard about Gracie getting the casting call I suggested to Sam’s mom that she enter as well with these two images below. Oh yes. He got a casting call too.
Omgoodness look at those huge eyes and lips… so cute.
You may be able to tell that he is 100% serious about being a fashion model. I say “go for it Sam, and I know you will succeed.” We did Sam’s photos less than a month ago. He has already been published in a couple of magazines. Our goal is always to get them in front of designers and agents. You are on your way my new little friend.
Updating from October 15, 2019
Last week three of the models I shot were published in the same magazine.
I am so excited for them. As I said earlier I do not post all of their publications because honestly I can barely keep up with how often they are recognized. I do love to shout out for anyone who has had their first publication though. It’s very exciting to parents and especially to children. Heather and Simone are sisters and just recently had their photos done here at my Raleigh portrait studio. Here are the images that were posted in Kid Model Magazine.
Heather in Kid Model Magazine HERE
Simone in Kid Model Magazine HERE
Gracie in Kid Model Magazine HERE
Coincidentally, when I went to get these links for you all I noticed that this image of Izzi is the featured timeline image for the magazine as well as having a feature. Way to go Izzi. I am so excited for all the fun things going on in your life.
I am adding to this information on 10/29/19. Heather and Simone’s mom just left me an email to update me about the girls recent magazine publications. I guess mom is going to have to buy a magazine rack. Heather and Simone were both featured in Kid Model Magazine. Heather was featured in Model Source and Brand Model Magazine. Again, both girls were featured in Designer Child Magazine. Way to go guys.
Speaking of magazine racks, I really need to get one for my studio. Recently I photographed Lila-Kate and her sister Mia-Rose as well as a little boy named Sam. Some of Samuel’s adventure is documented above. It was a dream come true for him to see himself in a magazine, let alone several of them.
I felt that Izzi, Mia-Rose and Sam, all being the same size and all having the same outfits would make a cute group photo. The mom’s were video taping and taking cell phone snaps to document the behind the scenes action. If you visit my Facebook page you can enjoy some of them. While waiting for me to switch drops Gina got these cell phone images. So cute. They were having so much fun socializing and going through the magazines. Cute, cute, cute!
Here are a couple from our session. Are they not precious?
It’s November 14th and time for an update. I am so excited that one of the images from our above session with Izzi, Sam and Mia-Rose made front cover of Kid Model Magazine. Click the link there to see the cover. It is soooooo cute. I can’t help thinking about the conversation I had with Samuel at our first session. He said he wanted to be a model because he enjoys looking at magazines with children in them. Sam’s comment was that they look “cool”. When I asked him what looked “cool” about them he answered, “the clothing.” He likes fashion my friends. Way to go Izzi, Sam and Mia Rose, you all did such a great job at our session. I can tell you all had so much fun.
Additionally, a separate image from our session made the timeline cover for that magazine. You can see it here at Kid Model Magazine. Three children and some parents are going to be smiling when they wake up this morning.
I am also excited about one of my new models. Her name is Gracie. She is absolutely gorgeous. She came right out of the gate with a magazine cover. You can see her here at . This was the winning image. You can go here to Young Model Magazine’s Facebook page to see her win.
I am sure you can see why she was a hit. She has also been published in the Kid Model Magazine with the image below. You can see it here at Kid Model Magazine.
Gracie came right out of the gate with a Bam…also getting published right away in Model Source Magazine. She has the front inside cover which you can see here on the MagCloud page by clicking on the read sample tab.
Way to go Gracie. I know this is so much fun isn’t it?
I am so excited for Lila-Kate who was published in It Girl Model Magazine with the image below. Click right on that link to browse the winning gallery. Her sister Mia-Rose is also in that same issue with the photograph right below.
Lila-Kate is gorgeous. She has the most beautiful skin, amazing Italian eyes and hair that you would not believe. She looks very much like her pretty mommy.
Mia-Rose has a dance back ground that has her posing like a top model. Steampunk totally suits her, so much so that she got a layout in Young Model Magazine. She is has a vibrant personality and sweet nature to match that pretty face. You can see more images of her on my Steampunk page. Another place on my site to see Mia-Rose and Lila Kate is in my Raleigh children’s portrait gallery. Thank you mom for bringing them in for the sessions. It was so much fun.
Congrats to Izzi and Paige as they both have been placed in Child Model Magazines top model of the year contest, top 100. I’m rooting for you both. I am so happy to see my images in so many nice places. The images below can be found in the winners album and the countdown is on.
The image of Izzi above is one of my favorites of her. It has truly gotten her a lot of attention. Just Izzi, no fancy clothing needed…
Similarly, this image of Paige is one of my top 5 favorites from our last session. It always seems to be popping up somewhere. I swear I got notification on Pinterest about it… Sadly, I am just not any good at Pinterest. I love this gentle and soft, somewhat steampunk style. Bowler hats are so cute on the children. I use them from 2 years to high school seniors.
Stay tuned and follow this LINK TO Modeling portfolio session in Raleigh, the next blog post… happily for the children and for me there is so much to share.
