Today’s social media makes it easier than ever to build modeling portfolios for your children. If you are interested in building a modeling portfolio for your little boy or girl I would be happy to help you do that. My post will tell you what Izzi’s mom and I did to get her started. This is Izzi’s story. Information is here for you to see what her mother and I did with the images she took here at my Raleigh studio. As a result of posting the images she is getting recognized in the modeling industry. In addition, her mother stays active on the Facebook pages.
Modeling portfolios are fun to build and since I love photographing children it’s a service that I am pleased to offer any clients. Have you ever asked yourself, how can I get my child into modeling? Maybe reading this blog post will give you a little insight into that question.
Izzi’s mom and I have not yet sent out comp cards or contacted a modeling agency and she is participating in modeling photo shoots left and right. Keep reading because I will continue posting updates about Izzi and her modeling adventures at the bottom of the page. Should this post gets too long I will begin a new post and and leave a link to the continuation there at the bottom. If you are interested in following her success story as it unfolds the information will be there for you.
Things have moved along more quickly than I expected. We began our journey in October, by posting images of Izzi in various child modeling magazine competitions. In just a few short months my photos of Izzi had been published in multiple child modeling magazines. I posted some of them and her mother posted others. Izzi and I have landed several front covers of these modeling magazines. We have also received many multi page layouts. Some layouts have interviews with Izzi. Other layouts have interviews with my studio. She is walking runway. Her mom has received invitations for her to participate in various photo shoots to promote different clothing lines. Mom told me she is having fun traveling and making new friends. Agents have approached her mother as well. Wow what a whirlwind of activity. I am so happy that her mom decided to see how modeling might look on Izzi.
In one of Izzi’s interviews in a children’s modeling magazine they asked her about her goals for modeling in the future. She stated that she would like to walk runway. Well guess what, she has been invited to walk the runway in New York at Fashion Week in February. Izzi will be modeling for several different children’s clothing designers there in New York.
Let’s start at the beginning. The image below shows where my journey with Izzi and her sweet family began. It is of course her mother’s maternity portrait. Izzi is there, you just can’t see her for the hat, hahah. I am grateful to the moon and back to customers like Vanessa who continue to use my studio for their photographic needs through their children’s lives.
I feel fortunate to have been Izz’s family photographer for so long. It’s so nice to build relationships with clients and watch their children grow year after year. This was taken in my Holly Springs studio. Her mother Vanessa books frequent appointments with me to have maternity, newborn, family and other milestone images taken. What we are working on mostly now are modeling head shots. Here is an image of Izzi when she was two. Isn’t she adorable?
When she was two I remember commenting to her mother that she would be an amazing model for children’s clothing. Not only is she sweet and beautiful but she has a way of just looking at a camera. This past year, in October, her mom and I began sending in her images to various children’s model magazines on Facebook. We were pleased and amazed at the response to the photos. I am going to list some of the modeling opportunities that Izzi has been asked to participate in below. Honestly things are moving so fast for her it’s difficult to keep up. It all started for Izzi right here in my studio. I am so thrilled to be part of her journey.
In October Izzi made it to the top 25 models of the year for child model magazine. We were thrilled. Izzi’s mom posted images that I took while building her modeling portfolio onto Child Model Magazine’s Facebook Page. Our images won a competition. From the winning images four other girls and Izzi were asked to participate in the All That Glitters photo shoot in Myrtle beach. The girls were modeling designs by Tutu Du Monde. Before the end of November Izzi was on her way to Myrtle Beach for her first modeling shoot. Some of my images her mom submitted to Child Model Magazine are below. They were published along with her interview in that particular magazine.
The two images above have won awards and/or have been published in photography and modeling magazines. I am sure you can tell why; she is just beautiful. She is also as sweet as she can be so very easy for me to work with, most of the time… hahahah she is a child and children will be children. Because I have worked with children all my life I am patient and understand the nature of the child. I do not expect them to behave like adults, because they are children. I still get dynamic images. Dynamic image have a better chance of being published.
Very shortly after her trip to Myrtle Beach Izzi was asked to participate in the Couture American Doll photo shoot in New York. The session was styled by Urica by Rachel and shot by Alvin Toro. She and her mom had a blast. Izzi loves her American doll too. The designer made a matching outfit for Izzi and the doll. Doesn’t that sound like a wonderful experience for a little girl?
We are thrilled to say that Izzi will be participating in her first run way walk in New York during Fashion week in February. She will be wearing clothing by several different popular designers. One of those designers is Wanda Beauchamp and we love her clothing. New York fashion week is so exciting. Check out the link. Izzi is now six and I along with many others, I feel she is on her way to becoming a super star.
This steampunk styled image of Izzi above was featured along with others in International Kids Model Magazine. I just love it and steampunk style. Her mom also loves steampunk which is one of the reasons that I decided to start offering steampunk themed portraits. This was an image that was taken while working on her modeling portfolio.
Izzi and I have landed so many magazine publications, covers, articles, timeline images etc… from a variety of model magazines in the last two months. It’s all quite amazing and all without an agent or a comp card yet. Here are some of the model sites where we have been submitting images. I will link some of our posts. Parent’s of all aspiring models and portfolio builders can use these links to submit images of your child. If you hire me to take the images I will do the best job that I can do to try to make it happen for you by getting beautiful images for you to post. Remember to tag me for copyright and thank you all for your business….. this is fun. I love being a Raleigh children’s photographer that is now actively shooting modeling head shots. The links below go to some of the pages where we posted images.
These are some of the adventures Izzi has had in New York
I have to say I am super excited for Izzi and for my studio in landing a 4 page layout in Child Couture Magazine. The magazine is printing now and I can’t wait to get my copy. The theme is Hollywood Glam, black and white images, and this is one of the images that I submitted for the layout.
I am over the moon with excitement and truly honored that Izzi and I landed the front cover and a four page layout in Model Source Magazine. My copy is on the way.
In addition, we landed the second cover below with Iconic Child Magazine. Above all, mom says that Izzi is enjoying these adventures. She enjoys meeting new friends, traveling, staying in the motels and the glamour that comes with runway work. She likes the fun clothes too, what little girl would not like doing a shoot for American Doll?
Recently this gorgeous little lady landed yet another cover with an image I really loved because it is right up in her pretty face. Her eyes are so amazing.
This has been an adventure for me as well. I am so excited and honored to have been a featured artist in Child Couture Magazine. Thank you to my sweet models Izzi and Chloe, to their parents for having me photograph these two precious children all their lives and to the magazine for offering me this opportunity.
Izzi and James, two of my clients that are working on modeling portfolios, are both featured in International Kid model magazine. I am just in love with the two side by side steampunk images that I took of these two adorable children. Steampunk styling is a lot of fun and all the children seem to like it, all the way up to the teenagers and young adults. Jame’s copy is on the mantle of his fire place where I get to see it when I visit.
As we move on with Izzi’s story, I am excited to say that we landed another magazine cover. This time our image was posted on the cover of Model Source Magazine. It helps in building modeling portfolios to have these images being published in magazines. Izzi’s first publications were the precursor to her being invited to participate in the shoot in Myrtle beach and the ball keeps rolling. When Izzi was at Fashion week in New York she was there in front of agents and designers. This type of event does lead to agencies asking to sign the child and Izzi’s mom has been approached by two agencies so far. She actually had her first catalog job this week (today is 6/5/2019). Mom said she had so much fun with the other children and farm animals. She modeled clothing for Mary and Grace Clothing.
One of my all time favorite images of Izzi won a feature in International Kid Model Magazine. I just love love love that image. The flowers, the dress, her face, the light, everything about it I love.
Again, an invitation to walk in fashion week was extended to Izzi. This time the fashion week was hosted in Atlanta. Her mom stayed in contact with me as she was there. It was so exciting to see the gorgeous dresses that she wore. One of our favorite children’s clothing designers is Wanda Beauchamp. In the beautiful image that I took of Izzi seen below, she is wearing an amazing design that Wanda created for her to wear when she walked the run way in New York. The image in this awesome blue dress was taken as part of her modeling portfolio session. This same image was also published in Designer Child Model Magazine. Wanda, the same amazing designer made a dress for Izzi to wear at this latest fashion week run way show in Atlanta.
Pop Corn Kids is a link to some Wanda Beauchamp’s designs. I have had another parent purchase from her for our fashion sessions and the outfits were amazing. I will be posting those in the linked blog posts. If you want to see children, including Izzi, modeling Wanda’s designs scroll up and hit the link labeled New York Fashion Week. This page has a video of another fashion week with Wanda’s designs. Enjoy. Wanda you are amazing.
While Izzi was participating in the Fashion Week in Atlanta yet ANOTHER designer asked her to show off her designs at Fashion Week here in Charlotte NC. That will be August 31st 2019. Stay tuned Izzi fans because I will share more then.
A super exciting win for my studio was also with images I took of Izzi for her modeling portfolio. We shot near some pretty wisteria. I won photographer of the month and my studio was featured along with a nice layout of my images. It was such an honor and I really appreciated all of the people that came together for this to happen for my studio. Thank you Izzi, Vanessa, Greg and thank you Child Couture Magazine. Click HERE to see the winning image. This is a magazine that I can’t wait to get.
More recently the images I took with Izzi and Lighting won Izzi and I the Editor’s choices award for June 2019 in Child Couture magazine. I was super excited and thankful to Izzi, Lighting, Izzi’s wonderful mom and of course Lighting for being such a good boy. Two of the winning images are posted below the award ribbon.
